SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - On Your Side has heard from several people who received an inheritance letter in the mail. It’s a scam.

Chris Dale got this letter in the mail. A long-distance relative died from COVID-19 complications and left him ten million dollars. It appears to be from an attorney. You might find an attorney with that name, but keep digging.

“If you get anything that offers you quick riches that sounds too good to be true, just look for things like -- a business, but they’re reaching out with a public domain email address,” said Pamela Hernandez with the Better Business Bureau.

The letter has an email address from Outlook.

“The email outlook is another red flag. If you look at the address in the letter, it doesn’t match with anything as well,” said Dale.
