WESTFEILD, Mass. (WWLP) - The 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield is saying goodbye to its commander.

As Col. David Halasi-Kun wraps up his time as the commander, the impact he's made both in the air and on the ground over the last 18 years is to be remembered.

The skies over Westfield on Tuesday witnessed a familiar, yet bittersweet sight. Four F-15 Eagles, the iconic symbols of the 104th Fighter Wing, soared from the base to an area of the open Atlantic Ocean south of Long Island, New York, but this wasn't just any training mission. This was the final flight for Commander Halasi-Kun.

"We fought and then we hit the tanker and then we fought and then we hit the tanker, and we fought some more and came back home," said Halasi-Kun.
