LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo’s Johnny Rendon has passed away.

Juan Jose ‘Johnny’ Rendon, who served as council member for two terms in the city of Laredo passed away last night surrounded by family.

Rendon is well known by many; his career spanned 37 years and 29 of those years being with the Laredo Fire Department. At the department he became district fire chief.

Former Mayor Raul Salinas provided a statement regarding his lifelong friend.

“He was an outstanding and distinguished colleague, and he did everything in a humble way. He was genuine, he was a genuine servant and did work in an incredible way,” Salinas said.
