RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - October is National Crime Prevention Month. Reno Police Chief Kathryn Nance is raising awareness for residential and cyber crime trends the Reno Police Department is tracking right now.

“Cyber crime is one of the fastest growing threats affecting individuals, families, small businesses and even city infrastructures,” said Chief Nance.

Sometimes social media trends promoting crime impact our community, but the most common cyber crimes target our personal devices. “Phishing, ransomware, identity theft and online scams are on the rise. They target many seniors, youth and small business owners,” added the Chief.
