BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Area clinicians and school staff are getting a lesson in teaching teenagers to deal with chronic stress and trauma.

The training took place on Thursday afternoon at the North Dakota Gateway to Science in Bismarck.

SPARCS Training helps professionals learn psychotherapy methods to counsel teenagers who have experienced significant trauma in their lives to manage their stress and learn how to talk through their emotions.

“How are the kids doing? Do they get better with this treatment? And what we found, with our first cohort, was that kids got better. We saw significant results of kids getting better, their PTSD symptoms decreasing,” said Nicola Herting, director of Project SPARCS.
