LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office is exchanging its normal badges for pink ones to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
According to the American Cancer Society , “1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in their Lifetime in the U.S.”
“We want to be a part of something big to show, to show... we’re just like you.... We are you, and this is just one outward sign of demonstrating that,” said Ingham County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Chief Darin Southworth.
The badge change started as an idea, driven by personal stories and lived experiences within the department. A lived experience, Deputy Jason Kuch knows all about.
“My wife got diagnosed with breast cancer 13 years ago. About three years ago it came back as metastatic breast cancer, and it spread,”
