COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Norwich Township Fire Department is urging homeowners to inspect their electric meters following a house fire in August that investigators say may have been caused by a faulty meter .

The fire occurred in the Estates at Hoffman Farms in Hilliard, but officials warn the issue could affect homes throughout the area, as other neighbors have complained of meters sparking.

A house fire just over a month ago has sparked concern among neighbors, many of whom are now taking a closer look at their own meters.

Steve Reinhard, a Hilliard resident in the neighborhood, said he experienced electrical issues at his home that raised red flags.

“All the sudden we heard loud popping noises, then we heard sizzling noises, and the lights were kind of going up and down,” Reinhard sai
