ELYRIA, Ohio — Lorain County Commissioners on Friday unanimously approved $100,000 in funding for a program that provides early support to women who are pregnant or have recently given birth.

Chris Cabot, director of Lorain County Jobs and Family Services, told commissioners the program helps ensure mothers have safe pregnancies and are in the best possible health at the time of birth. It also addresses substance use issues among pregnant mothers.

“It’s a really beneficial program,” Cabot said. “It keeps families from having to work with Children and Family services and kids potentially coming into care.”
