FOXBOROUGH – There’s a clear connection between Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and his offensive coordinator, Josh McDaniels .

This season, through four weeks, Maye ranks among the NFL league leaders in all positive passing categories. The quarterback enters this week ranked sixth in passing yards, tied for eighth in passing touchdowns, sixth in completions, fifth in passer rating, and first in completion percentage.

Maye has improved every week under McDaniels. On Thursday, the veteran offensive coordinator explained why Maye hasn’t surprised him this season.
