OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - Ocean Springs High School strives for dominance with balls and bats, as well as books and binders. One of the many Greyhounds who embodies that is Addison Johnson.

The senior boasts a 3.97 GPA while being a four-year starter and captain of the Ocean Springs softball team.

While excelling in academics and athletics seems to come naturally, Johnson says balancing the two is no easy task.

“It is definitely a challenge,” Johnson said. “Especially when it comes to varsity games, those last really late. Over the past four years, I have found it best that I keep a separation between academics and athletics. If I have time to get something done in class, I will get it done, so when I come to softbal,l I am devoted to softball and not anything academic.”
