Sal Marchese is going to be a football boss again.
After constructing a legendary coaching career at Delsea Regional High School, Marchese will become the head football coach at St. Joseph Academy next season, the Hammonton-based private school announced at a function on Thursday night.
The 58-year-old Marchese guided Delsea for 31 seasons starting in 1993, leading the program to 249 wins along with 11 sectional titles and its first state championship in his final game as head coach in 2023.
Marchese planned to stay away from the sport in 2024, concentrating on watching his son Salvatore compete in wrestling. However, the elder Marchese said his health began to suffer when he wasn’t on the sidelines or in his usual spot above the pressbox. He accepted a volunteer coaching job at Delsea
