NEW ORLEANS —

Two people died immediately: the intended target, 21-year-old Johnell Hampton, and his Uber driver, Andrew Stiller. Months later, Kimberly Hines, a woman who had been driving by when a stray bullet struck her in the head, was taken off life support.

Moments after the triple killing, a driver in a passing car stopped and shot cell phone video of four gunmen running back to their getaway car.

“It's senseless. Barbaric,” said Capt. Kevin Burns, New Orleans Police Department homicide commander. “I've never seen anything like that in my 20-plus years on the job.”

At the scene, NOPD officers found bullet casings from multiple guns. Eyewitnesses were able to identify the suspects' car as a white Nissan Sentra.
