BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Coming off the heels of one of the driest Septembers on record for the Brazos Valley, it is no surprise that drought has returned.

Severe Drought has set up on the western edge of both Milam and Lee Counties, while Moderate Drought has made itself at home along and west of Highway 36. As for the rest of the Brazos Valley, abnormally dry conditions blanket the region.

The Brazos Valley needs 9"-12" of rain to eliminate drought. (kbtx)

After steady rainfall followed us through the summer, only 0.04″ fell in the rain gauge at Easterwood Airport through all 30 days of September. What was luscious green grass has now yellowed, sprinklers are working on overdrive, and our local creeks and rivers are running low - all signs that we are in desperate need of some rain!
