OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - New legislation could be named after the infamous 1987 'State Fair Murders', and it could help solve cold cases.

According to oklahomacoldcase.org, there are over 2,500 unsolved murders in Oklahoma.

"I'm here on behalf of the Pennington family, who were involved two sisters in a very high-profile unsolved Oklahoma cold case called the 'State Fair murders,'" said Dorian Quillen, a cold case advocate.

Quillen is close with the families of Cheyrl Genzer and Lisa Pennington, two sisters who vanished in 1987. They were found a month later, buried in shallow graves.

"I cannot imagine how that feels and how that weighs people down," said Senator Carri Hicks (D-Oklahoma City).
