BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WFSB) - There is a new pitch to add a bridge from Bridgeport to Long Island to reduce travel time between the two states.
The bridge would be 14 miles long, and developers say it could cost up to $50 billion to build.
They’re also proposing adding a train to limit pollution.
This week on CT ’25, we’re learning more from a developer.
“We waste so much money being stuck in traffic, whether it’s on the Long Island side or in lower Fairfield County. There was a study that was just done, Bridgeport to Stamford is the worst stretch of I-95 in the U.S. The cost it would take to expand I-95 is an impossibility. Same on the Merritt Parkway. Not to mention, it’s a designated historic highway. So compared to any of that, this is going to relieve traffic more than anything else
