MACON, Ga. — Authorities are searching for the driver of an SUV that struck a motorcyclist and fled the scene Wednesday night near Mercer University , leaving the victim seriously injured in the roadway.

The collision occurred around 8 p.m. on Pio Nono Avenue near Mercer University Drive, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

David Riddlehoover was riding his motorcycle when he collided with an SUV that witnesses say cut off a group of motorcyclists attempting to enter a restaurant parking lot.

Richard Hinkle, who was riding directly behind Riddlehoover, witnessed the crash unfold.

"I sat there and watched the whole thing. I was right behind them. It's like in slow motion to me," Hinkle said. "I had my brother's blood on my hands."
