Two people have been killed and three others were seriously injured after an attack on a synagogue — a Jewish place of worship — in the UK city of Manchester.

It coincided with Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish religious calendar, with UK police treating the incident as a terror attack.

What happened in Manchester?

A man drove a car into pedestrians outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, in Crumpsall, a suburb in Manchester, shortly after 9:30am on Thursday, local time.

The man got out of the car and began "stabbing anyone near him" and tried to get into the synagogue , witness Chava Lewin, told British media.
