ALBANY, N.Y. (ABC22/FOX44) - TAP, or the Tuition Assistance Program, awards close to $800 million each year to New York students. The state announced Thursday that people can now apply for aid for the next school year.

"Programs like TAP and the STEM Incentive Program are vital in providing New York students with the financial support and opportunities they need to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams," said Governor Kathy Hochul.

New York's STEM Incentive Program - STEM is short for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics - covers the tuition of high school students at SUNY or CUNY colleges. To qualify, students must be in the top 10% of their graduating class, and commit to working in a related field in New York for the five years following their graduation.
