"We have to use AI as an amplifier of their thinking, not a substitute for it," Dr Neil Durrant says.
It comes as the University of New England rolls out a specialised AI resource, named Madgwick, to all students after a 12-month partnership with a Newcastle tech startup, Simtheory.
Madgwick, named for UNE's first vice-chancellor, is an integrated AI workspace where students can build their own team of AI assistants tailored to their specific study habits. These assistants bring search, planning, coding, and research capabilities into a single unified environment.
