MCDONOUGH COUNTY (WGEM) - A McDonough County man was sentenced after entering a plea deal on Sept. 22 for shooting livestock .
Court documents show Oliver B. Hoffman, 19, of Canton, Illinois, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with an expired FOID card and criminal damage to property between $10,000-$100,000.
During the plea, Hoffman admitted to shooting the animals voluntarily.
Hoffman will serve his sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections with a credit of 329 days.
Hoffman is required to pay over $17,000 in fines.
On Oct. 29 at 2:30 p.m., the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an animal cruelty case east of Bardolph, Ill., on N. 1450th road.
