Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu , who won silver in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, secured a silver medal in the 48kg division at the World Weightlifting Championships 2025 in Førde, Norway. She achieved a total lift of 199kg in the competition. North Korean weightlifter Ri Song-gum dominated the event by winning three gold medals in the 48kg division. Ri set new world records with a 91kg snatch, a 122kg clean and jerk, and a total lift of 213kg. Thailand's Thanyathon Sukcharoen took the bronze medal with a total lift of 198kg.
