Cleveland — A change in the Game 3 start time between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians meant fans who were traveling from hours away had to make quick decisions about attending Thursday's game, but were treated to a big win over a rival.

The Tigers beat the Guardians 6-3 to take the Wild Card series match-up and move on to play the Seattle Mariners. They flipped the script on the Guardians, who defeated the Tigers in Game 5 to win last year's divisional playoff series, 3-2, in a do-or-die game at Progressive Field.

"I had to drive up," Dave Archer of Canton Township said. "I had to come support them in their last game" of the series.

Archer noted it was "rough coming down the stretch," as the Tigers' lead shrank from 5 runs in the seventh inning to 3 runs late in the game.
