NEW YORK – On ‘Bucky Dent Day’ in the Bronx, a new pinstriped postseason hero vanquished the Red Sox .

A rookie who hails from the Boston suburbs, Cam Schlittler dialed up his high-octane arsenal across eight shutout innings and carried the Yankees to a Wild Card Series victory.

Boosted by a four-run fourth inning, the Yankees finished a 4-0 win at the Stadium on Thursday night, coming back to take the final two games of this best-of-three series.

In a 107-pitch gem, Schlittler - out of Boston's Northeastern University - yielded just five hits, no walks, and struck out 12 Red Sox batters.
