BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Millions of dollars are on the way to improve Baton Rouge high schools after the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board approved a $40 million bond on Thursday, Oct. 2.
Superintendent LaMont Cole said the bond will give the district money up front to invest in projects that will enhance the high school experience and make campuses more attractive.
“We didn’t necessarily have the money in the budget, so I started talking to individual board members about an opportunity to pursue a bond initiative so that we could have money upfront to pay for those initiatives at the schools,” Cole said.
The funds could be used for a variety of projects, including new tracks, football fields, auditorium upgrades, and workforce development programming.
