ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Two people died on Tuesday in a hang glider crash at a popular north Georgia mountain.
A 911 caller said the victims, who were flying in tandem on the same hang glider, crashed just after they launched off Lookout Mountain, a ridge that stretches through Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia.
Several agencies responded to the crash, Dade County Emergency Management said. A rope team from Catoosa County rappelled down the mountain, while other teams hiked up on a private road. The crew even requested air support from the Georgia Aviation Authority to counter the “extreme conditions” of the accident.
