Former LSU Tigers national championship winning coach Ed Orgeron is seeking a return to coaching college football, he said Wednesday.
“All depends what the best thing available is, Jacques, but I’m ready to coach again,” Orgeron told WAFB-TV’s Jacques Doucet at a ceremony celebrating former Tigers linebacker Patrick Queen.
Orgeron, 64, last coached LSU from 2016-21. The Louisiana native led the Tigers to a 51-20 record in his six seasons, including a 3-1 record in bowl games and winning the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship with a 15-0 record.
However, Orgeron and LSU agreed to part ways following the 2021 season after the Tigers posted a 5-5 record in 2020 and a 6-6 record in 2021.
