Punjab on toes as IMD predicts heavy rainfall

Chandigarh, October 3, 2025: Punjab is on toes as Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted fresh and heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on October 6 and 7. As per prediction rainfall is likely to begin from night of October 4.
As per IMD Punjab is likely to have 110 mm rainfall, Jammu 120 mm, Himachal Pradesh 160 to 180 mm. Haryana and Chandigarh will also have rainfall. Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ropar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Moga, Mansa, Gurdaspur, Barnala and Bathinda may witness heavy rainfall. Punjab has increased outflow from Ranjit Sagar Dam into Ravi. Earlier 10 thousand cusecs water was being released since last two days but on Thursday flow was increased to 37686 cusecs.
