New Delhi, Oct 3: Gitanjali Angmo, wife of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, has approached the Supreme Court seeking his release after he was detained under the National Security Act (NSA) on September 26.
Wangchuk’s detention came two days after protests in Ladakh demanding statehood and Sixth Schedule status for the Union Territory, which left four people dead and around 90 injured. He is currently lodged in Jodhpur Jail, Rajasthan.
In her plea, filed through lawyer Sarvam Khare, Angmo has challenged the validity of the NSA detention and sought immediate release of her husband. She also raised concerns over procedural lapses, stating that she has not yet received a copy of the detention order, which she claimed is a violation of rules, and that sh
