PORTLAND, Ore. — Westbound lanes of Interstate 84 were closed in East Portland on Thursday night, with one person in the hospital, the Portland Police Bureau confirmed.

Around 8:56 p.m., PPB responded to a crash on the westbound Interstate 84, where a pedestrian, believed to be a traffic management contract employee, was hit by a car. The worker was transported to the hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries, police said.

After hitting the worker, the driver then crashed into a barrier and stopped, but he did not require hospitalization, PPB said. He remained at the scene and was cooperating with police, who did not identify the driver or say whether they will be charged.
