A major fire has broken out at the Chevron oil refinery in El Segundo, Los Angeles, the Torrance Police Department has confirmed.

So far, no injuries or evacuations have been reported, though the blaze continues to burn and its full impact is still being assessed.

Situated immediately south of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the refinery’s location has prompted questions over possible disruption to air travel, though officials have yet to confirm whether flights will be affected.

However, the airport stated that the fire has not impacted its operations. No flights have been cancelled, diverted or delayed immediately after the fire.
