SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- San Diego Humane Society's Ramona Wildlife Center is asking for the public's help in gathering acorns, persimmons and pomegranates for bear cubs under their care.
The reason for the need of these fruits is to help keep the bears nourished and for them to practice the foraging skills they'll need to survive in the wild, the animal facility said on a Facebook post Tuesday.
Bears rely on nutritious foods like acorns ahead of winter.
Those who would like to donate extra acorns, persimmons or pomegranates can drop them off daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. the Ramona Wildlife Center, located at 18740 Highland Valley Rd.
