RICHMOND — Democrat Abigail Spanberger holds a 10-point lead on Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears with about a month left in Virginia’s contest for governor, according to a newly released survey.

Spanberger received 52% of the vote to 42% for Earle-Sears in the poll that Emerson College Polling and The Hill released Thursday.

In a poll that Emerson College Polling and The Hill released in January , Spanberger received 42% of the vote to 41% for Earle-Sears.

“Spanberger has picked up significant momentum since the first Emerson College poll at the beginning of 2025, driven by increases in support from independents, males and younger voters,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling .
