O'FALLON, Mo. — Just three days after the first Missouri Soccer Power Ranking, the second-ranked Eagles of Veritas Christian Academy made a statement.

And the top-ranked Dragons of St. Mary's certainly took notice.

In a clash of area Class 1 soccer powers Thursday night, host Veritas Christian came away with a 1-0 victory.

Veritas (9-3) scored the night's lone goal about 10 minutes in and then defended like crazy to preserve the shutout.

The Eagles' Ashton Temple and Daniel Kassebaum set up the goal with a pretty give-and-go through the middle of the field. Then, after moving into the right side of the Dragons' penalty area, Temple played a ball to the middle for Noah Durall, who finished the play with a one-timer.
