Motorists on the M6 are facing significant disruption this morning due to a serious accident. Traffic was brought to a standstill in both directions between J35 for Carnforth and J36 for Kirkby Lonsdale because of an 'overturned vehicle'. ‌

The incident was initially reported at approximately 5.15am today (October 3), with police and fire services responding to the scene. ‌

National Highways North West has announced that traffic has now been released in both directions, however, two lanes remain shut on the northbound carriageway. ‌
