Close on the heels of child deaths in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan allegedly linked to contaminated cough syrups, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Pune has sought details about the manufacturers and the products sold in the region.
“We are tracking whether the cough syrups made by the specific manufacturers involved in the incident are sold here,” Girish Hukare, FDA Joint Commissioner, Pune division that covers Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur, said.
According to reports, at least two children died in Rajasthan after allegedly consuming cough syrup secured from a government hospital.
