CLEVELAND, Ohio — In a division rivalry, boos come easy. Any fresh excuse for the home crowd to rain noise on the enemy, they’re going to take it. But even with the season on the line in the American League wild card series, there was one visiting player Progressive Field couldn’t quite bring itself to hate: Dillon Dingler.
The 27-year-old Tigers catcher is an Ohio kid to the core. Born in Massillon, he helped Jackson High School to basketball and baseball state championships during his senior campaign. He also attended Ohio State for three years before turning pro.
