It’s nearly impossible to scroll past an AFLW highlights reel this year without seeing Chloe Molloy, or more specifically, her jaw-dropping goals.

The Sydney co-captain opened the 2025 season with four goals, propelling her side to a 20-point win over a bewildered Richmond in front of more than 4000 fans. The 26-year-old followed up with seven majors in the following game, equalling the record for the most goals kicked in an AFLW game.

It was an impressive feat – even for a player who Swans coach Scott Gowans once referred to as “the best female footballer” he’d ever seen. But 12 months ago, Molloy’s life looked drastically different. The star-goal kicker injured her right knee during training in September 2024 – jus
