Anyone who thinks MAGA stands for Make America Great Again might want to reconsider that belief. Farmers are wondering if it really means Make Argentina Great Again. That’s because Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently announced that the United States is giving a $20 billion handout not to American farmers, but to Argentina.

Our farmers could use some help as they are becoming some of the worst casualties in our tariff wars. China consumes 61% of the world’s soybeans, and a lot of those beans came from the U.S. In 2024 it amounted to $13 billion worth and over $15 billion last year. Since May of this year, the number has been zero.
