Taliban’s foreign minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi will be visiting India, marking a first in the diplomatic relationship between the Government of India and the Taliban. Muttaqi, a United Nations-sanctioned individual, got the clearance from the UNSC on September 30.
During his visit, Amir Khan Muttaqi will try to gain India’s favour, as New Delhi has not yet officially recognised the Talibani government of Afghanistan. He will meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. This will be the second interaction between the two and the first in-person meeting.
The two spoke for the first time on May 15, after ‘Operation Sindoor’.

While there is no statement yet from the External Affairs Ministry on Muttaqi’s visit, the talks are likely to co
