It’s getting difficult to sort out Vice President JD Vance’s lies from examples of his ignorance. Vance blames Democrats for the shutdown because they refuse to make concessions on health care. He further insists that we shouldn’t be paying for immigrants’ health care.

The truth? Each reader should call their Medicaid office and ask, “Do immigrants get free health care”? I’m sorry to disappoint the gullible reader. The answer is “no.” They may receive emergency care, just as anyone can, because hospitals legally cannot turn away emergency health needs. Nothing more.
