India has been honored with the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Award 2025 for “Outstanding Achievement in Social Security,” acknowledging the Modi government’s initiatives to strengthen social protection.
Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, highlighted India’s historic expansion in social security coverage from 19 per cent in 2015 to 64.3 per cent in 2025, reaching over 940 million citizens, a milestone also recognised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
