TRAVERSE CITY — The Bay Area Transportation Authority pulled the plug on an early-morning shuttle bus service to Cherry Capital Airport.

BATA officials pointed to “extremely low” ridership numbers for suspending the service, which began in late February as a pilot program and continued through mid-September. It operated weekdays from 4 — 7 a.m. within the Traverse City city limits, and was designed to give local travelers another option for boarding early-morning flights at TVC before BATA’s normal 6 a.m. starting time for its door-to-door service.
