A judge denied bail Thursday for a security guard who was seen on a viral video putting a customer in a chokehold in Federal Hill.
Kevin Weaver, 41, is charged with first- and second-degree assault after having turned himself in to Baltimore police. The charges stem from an altercation Saturday night outside the Cross Street Public House bar.
Weaver is a father of six children and the manager of a Jiffy Lube who worked a part-time security job. His wife and father attended Thursday’s court proceedings and told 11 News that he is not a violent person.
“I’ve been with him 26 years. We live across from a farm. He likes the quietness. He takes care of his kids. I have a son who has muscular dystrophy. He’s not violent,” Shannon Collins, Weaver’s wife, told 11 News.
