Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda has officially bid farewell to members of the Judiciary, marking the end of his tenure in office.

Speaking at the ceremony in Blantyre to mark the opening of the 2025/2026 Judicial Calendar, Nyirenda described it as the highest honour of his career to serve the country in the role.

“This is a moment of farewell and reflection, and I call upon the Judiciary to continue preserving the rule of law,” he said in his address.

Nyirenda was appointed Attorney General in 2021 by then-President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, and has since played a key role in the country’s legal affairs.
