Liberty University filed a reply brief to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in the case involving Ellenor Zinski, a transgender woman and former LU employee who is accusing the university of violating federal law in her termination.
Liberty Counsel, a Christian ministry and law firm representing the university, said in a news release Tuesday it is arguing LU has an absolute right to employ people who abide by its doctrinal statement as a Christian employer.
“This case has attracted national attention, judged by the amicus briefs submitted to the court,” the release said. “Multiple colleges, universities and faith-based institutions, including legal scholars, have filed briefs in support of Liberty University.
