Occasionally, I like to skim the internet and randomly read newspapers (online) from various towns and cities across the country — to get a feel for what kinds of stories they’re covering and what issues are dominating the news in different places and in different regions.

Last week, I read in the St. Louis Dispatch that “grocery prices in the St. Louis area have risen at the fastest rate in two years, with food prices increasing by 0.4 percent for the two months ending in August 2025.”

It didn’t say, “grocery prices in the U.S. or across the country,” it said grocery prices in our area!
