The Malai Mahadeshwara (MM) Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, which has recently been at the centre of conservation concerns, has been rocked by another suspected poaching incident.

Forest officials recovered a partial carcass of a tiger, prompting Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre to order an immediate high-level investigation into the matter.

The discovery was made near Pacchedoddi village in the Hanur range of the Chamarajanagar district. According to MM Hills DCF Bhaskar, only the head, shoulders, and front legs of the tiger were recovered, while the rest of the body was not found. Crucially, the recovered parts still retained the tiger’s claws and teeth, suggesting a sophisticated poaching operation aimed at securing specific body parts.
