Scottish motorists are bracing for stricter traffic regulations this week as West Dunbartonshire Council gains new powers to issue fines.
Previously, the responsibility of enforcing parking restrictions fell on Police Scotland, but recent decriminalisation has seen these powers transferred to the council.
The council's enforcement officers now have the authority to issue a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) to any vehicle that fails to comply with existing parking regulations, as indicated by lines and signage.
Councillor David McBride, Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, stated: "This is an important step in increasing road safety throughout the region. It is aimed at improving driver behaviour so that traffic across the are
