Michelin added two new one-star restaurants to its Vancouver guide for 2025. Sumibiyaki Arashi and Sushi Hyun joined the 10 restaurants recognized in last year’s Michelin Guide Vancouver , bringing the city’s total number of one-star restaurants to 12.

Sumibiyaki Arashi , a 14-seat omakase restaurant, specializes in charcoal grilling. “Chef Pete Ho has ushered in a new gold standard of yakitori to Vancouver,” according to the guide.

Ho blends his Taiwanese heritage and Japanese cooking experience at the intimate spot. The multicourse omakase, $175 per person, includes dishes such as red crab chawanmushi with yuzu and skewers of heritage breed chicken grilled over binchotan coals.
