Mercedes' George Russell claimed his crash during the second practice session ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix was "a bit of a weird one".

With 42 minutes to go in practice 2, Russell crashed into the wall at Turn 16, leading to the first red flag of the session. The crash caused a puncture and damage to the front wing. Russell was able to limp the car back to the pitlane, but the damage was enough to rule him out of the rest of the session.

"It was a bit of a weird one, to be honest. I'm not too sure what happened," the Briton explained to Sky Sports F1 .

"Braked a bit earlier, went in a little bit slower, but then just lost the rear, but thankfully sort of went in front end on and didn't do too much damage, but obviously game over. So, yeah, a bit annoying. Sorry to the team for
